Walter S-E (R, IV) has been named on the 2025 British Citizen Youth Award Roll of Honour.

Recognising just twenty-two exceptional young people from across the UK who have made a significant positive impact on their communities and wider society.

Now in its ninth year, the British Citizen Youth Award celebrates kindness, leadership and social responsibility among young people aged 18 and under. Each honouree will receive the BCyA Medal of Honour at a special ceremony at the Palace of Westminster later this month.

Walter was recognised for his outstanding contribution to sustainability, environmental awareness and animal welfare through his work with the International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA). After joining the organisation’s Youth Ambassador Programme earlier this year, he quickly exceeded all targets for fundraising, outreach and engagement, becoming IAPWA’s first Official Youth Ambassador and the only participant to qualify in the 2025 programme.

Naomi Pritchard, Head of Charities and Volunteering at Shrewsbury School, said:

“We are so proud of Walter, his energy, creativity and commitment truly reflect the spirit of Shrewsbury. He has shown how one young person’s passion can inspire many more to care for the world around them.”

Walter will travel to London on 30 October to receive his medal, a proud moment for both him and the wider Shrewsbury community.
